Motor Training within Optometric Vision Therapy
July 26 @ 9:00 am - July 28 @ 3:00 pm
Movement, the visual process and the development of processing/ perceptual skills are intrinsically linked. They are in a dynamic, continuous and cyclical relationship. This RCS presentation will describe the impact of infantile reflexes and primary movement patterns upon the development of the visual process. It will provide an organized approach to testing and therapy activities. This RCS will explore the development and learning of gross and fine motor skill together with primitive and postural reflexes in the control of movements and posture. It will include the descriptions, actions and effects of visually relevant primitive reflexes. Assessments and therapy activities to improve the efficiency of movements, processing skills and therefore the visual process will be explored.NEW!! The new third day of this RCS will consider the testing and OVT approach to young children, patients with developmental delay, and some ABI patients. We shall consider the appropriate OVT for both chronological and developmental age. There will be many new activities and discussions on downloading activities already known.More than half of the course is practical floor work. You will be in pairs, in a room large enough for all to be moving on the floor at once. So wear comfortable,on the floor clothing, and get ready to experience!
