Surprisingly, exotropia can present some of the most difficult challenges in vision therapy. The treatment of exotropia includes both aligning eyes and making sure the patient performs comfortably and efficiently when the eyes are aligned. Alignment does not ensure comfort, and comfort does not ensure alignment. Procedures for both are needed. How does therapy vary when the exotropia is constant versus intermittent?
